[stag] Soft top fitting

Thanks
I take the point that sticking the soft top to the top of the header rail will allow me to position the soft top as , from what I have read, there seems to be a lot of pulling and tugging involved!.
I have respect for whoever put the old soft top on since not gluing it to the top of the header rail and padding the header rail top with some foam rubber I imagine is better if you can do it. However I will not even try and stick the thing.
I have spent the last month sorting the frame out since someone had welded the right hand side header rail to cant rail pivot solid. This, over the years, caused the frame to distort. But finding out just what bit/s of the frame were distorted was a major task and I still don't think that I have got the frame absolutely correct but it will have to do. I have never seen such a complicated mechanism. Every strut in the frame has to be spot on so that the shouldered pivot bolts go in cleanly and do not distort the struts in doing so even a miniscle amount.
It staggers me that these frames must have be made to quite tight tolerances when new

Stuart,

I just replaced my soft top a few months ago so my memory is still quite clear. Yes, the top header is glued as well. This is important so when you stretch the material it will stick to the top of the header. This will allow you to make sure everything is aligned properly.

Best,
